Please share a memory of Mary to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
DAVIDSON: Mary Ann Nee Rowland August 14, 1916 - April 4, 2020 Mary Davidson (Rowland) passed away peacefully at Huronlea Nursing Home in Brussels, in her 104th year. Survived by her children: Joyce Triebner (Ralph) of Listowel, Doug Davidson, Listowel, Ann Laurie, Guelph and Connie Davidson, Port Elgin. Survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Predeceased by her husband George Davidson, daughter Joan Davidson, son Jack Davidson, son-in-law Robert Laurie, daughter-in-law Linda Davidson and her brother Bill Rowland and her sister Gladys Hymers. Mary lived in Brussels for most of her life. Her father moved the family here to run the Bakery. She went to nursing school in London for a short time but she was lonely, so returned and married her sweetheart, George Davidson. They quickly started a family with Joan, Jack, Joyce, Doug and Anne. The house was always busy with kids, friends, family and even boarders! Mary was also a fixture in the community as a member of the Rebekahs and the Presbyterian Church. She worked many years at Grewer’s Grocery store and at the Post Office. Full of joy and laughter, her feistiness and wicked sense of humour will be missed most. She always loved a good game of cards and was often out many nights playing Euchre where she would proudly display the can of salmon or chocolate bar that she won. She kept up with politics and the news. When we celebrated her 100th birthday, she was pleased to see the Queen sent her birthday wishes, but she would not let us display any of the wishes from the politicians she didn’t like! She loved to carry on with her children with constant teasing and joking and she took pride in knowing what the Grandkids and their families were doing. She was loved by everyone who met her and she will be truly missed. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a celebration of life will be held at a future date at Melville Presbyterian Church in Brussels, ON. In lieu of flowers and as expressions of sympathy donations in her honour can be made to Melville Presbyterian Church. Cards of sympathy may be sent to Box 340 Brussels, ON Condolences may be left at riversidefuneralhome.ca Special thank you to the staff at Huronlea for your unmitigated care and keeping your residents safe. Thank you especially for being at the frontline during this unprecedented time.
