Dear Dona, Brenda & Gerry and Karen & Pete and grandchildren:
We were extremely troubled to hear first of Jim's sudden illness and then only a few days later of his passing away. Our hearts and thoughts go out to all of you at this sad time. You will miss your husband, father, father-in-law and grandfather greatly. He was a bigger than life presence in all of your lives.
We first met Jim (and of course you Dona) when first we inquired about the Bed & Breakfast details. In no time after that, the four of us were good friends - a friendship made strong and fast by your generous hospitality. We enjoyed those visits and those too few occasions when we were able to have both of you over to our home for dinner.
We remember so well those relaxing, casual get togethers on the deck at your cottage (accompanied of course by Dona's generous shots of good old-fashioned Canadian Rye) when we would watch sunsets, and talk of our children and grandchildren ad infinitum. It was apparent to us that Jim possessed an inordinate pride in the doings of all his children but particularly those of his grandchildren. He would at the drop of a hat - no, not even that, no encouragement needed - regale us with the latest doings and successes and challenges and good times experienced both with them and by them. Clearly he loved those kids unabashedly and without reservation. He was a special grandpa in that regard and as such he will be missed greatly.

Dona, Brenda, Karen and the extended Knight and Alexander families :
It is with much sadness that we learn of the passing of your beloved Jim … husband, father, father-in-law, brother, brother-in -law and grandparent.
Jim was a wonderful man, always quite active in the Brussels community with the Lions Club and other events for many years.
I always remember Jim when growing up in the Brussels community in the ‘50’s and 60’s
with my parents.
The weekly dance parties and house gatherings with all the Cranbrook and Brussels gang. Jim, like all the others, worked hard and played hard. They lived for those happy weekend outings … the laughter and singing as they gathered around the piano late at night. Jim always asked how we were doing at high school and university … keenly interested in the well-being and education of the youth. Jim was also a quiet, well- respected family man. Our deepest sympathies are extended to all. Jim will never be forgotten.
