We are very sorry to hear of Don's passing. We were cottage neighbours and always enjoyed visits as he was walking his friendly companion. We were also glad to see him and Mary settle in their new home in London even though cottagers were missing his friendly face.
Deepest sympathy,
Don & Kendra Dubeau

Our condolences to Mary and Don's entire family. We had the privilege of meeting Don at a cottage function some years ago and quickly considered him not just a neighbour, but also a friend. Don always made the time for a quick chat with us as well as our children and introduced us to many of his friends. Always willing to help, he was generous with his time and his knowledge. He introduced me to various flower species and even spent most of a day mulching and weeding our gardens with me. A true gentleman, he will be greatly missed by us as well as those fortunate enough to have known him.

Tom, Bob and I have appreciated Don and Mary Ellen's friendship at the cottage. We always enjoyed our conversations during the dinner parties and summer get togethers. I recall Don liked his Captain Morgan White rum with Coke ... He was such a Polite man ... very Classy ... Understanding ... a Gem. It was nice of Don and Mary to visit us a few weeks ago at the cottage. Now I realize how special was that visit Don will certainly be missed. It hurts to lose a good friend!!!
Our deepest Condolences to Mary Ellen and the rest of the families.

Knowing Don over the years at the lake has been a real privilege. His helping hand, his beautiful gardens in the summer, his astute puzzle making, his Friday morning coffee prep for "the boys" each week at Pine River United and his listening ear made him a true friend. After Jeanne died and before he became enamoured with Mary, Don became huge in our eyes as a special caretaker for our small dog when we went away - huge, because he kept insisting that Abby did not want to return to our house. She did indeed love him dearly and would have been very happy to stay with Don, as do Macie and Sadie, and we know how animals can identify someone who genuinely cares. That was Don. Someone who really cared and will be greatly missed. Even though he always graciously declined to go for a boat ride, we treasure our special memories with Don at the lake. We hope that your special memories will be treasures and comfort for you. With our love, Bobbie and Doug Brown

Don was a great neighbour. Whether sharing a drink, chatting on the beach or taking a break from gardening to talk to you, Don was a wonderful friend. Don and Gord would sit on his front porch, sipping a beer, solving the problems of the world.
Don will be truly missed by so many friends and neighbours.
Our sincere condolences to Mary and the families.
May he rest in peace.

Mary, Laurie, Steven and Families
I remember when Cathy and I bought our cottage in Point Clark...this neighbor, whom we knew very little , came and helped us for two days put on a new roof, in the heat of the summer....that is the kind of guy Don Fischer was.
It was the initiation of years of friendship. I in turn, had to learn to enjoy Captain Morgan's and coke. I will raise a glass or two to you MY friend.
Please give my hugs to Jeanne.
Cathy and I will give hugs to Mary
Rest in Peace ...Don

Our condolences to Mary, Laurie, Steven, and extended family. Don Fischer and I worked together for many years at Starcraft in Listowel, first as co-workers and then he was my Boss. He never liked the title Boss and always referred to the employees as “Team” and he meant it. In 1990 Starcraft Corporate in the US was facing bankruptcy and put divisions of the company up for sale. Don stepped up, put everything he had on the line and bought the property, buildings, and inventory saving 40 jobs and livelihoods. Starcraft Automotive, then Signature Conversions continued producing luxury travel vans until 2015.
RIP Partner, I’ll tip a rum to you next time I get to The Keg, ( steak well done)
