Obituary of Shirley Marie Wheeler
Please share a memory of Shirley to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with profound sadness that the family of Shirley Marie Wheeler (Machan) announce her passing on June 24, 2020 at the age of 86.
Shirley was born on December 6, 1933 to Lawrence and Violet Machan and was the second oldest of sixteen children. A loving wife, mother and grandmother, she considered her family to be the most important thing in life.
Shirley enjoyed doing crafts, reading and working in her flower beds. While on their farm she loved working on their big yard and pond, where she could enjoy watching her fish.
After farming for many years, her love of crafts led her to establishing a decorating & floral craft business in Seaforth, Ontario with her sister Dianne.
Shirley belonged to a number of Clubs and associations in Brussels. She was a Sunday school teacher, a Brownie leader, an executive of the Brussels Figure Skating Club, a member of the Horticulture Society, Huron Lea Auxiliary, Lawn Bowling Club and Curling Club.
She will be lovingly remembered by her husband George. During their nearly 65 years of marriage, they had two children, Carol and Kevin of whom she was very proud. She was especially proud of her grandson Kurtis. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends
She was predeceased by her parents, her brothers Clarence ‘Joe’, Glen ‘Doug’ and Barrie, her sister Dianne, her brother-in-laws Lynn Morrison and Wayne Becker and her son-in-law Simon McAully.
She is survived by her husband George, her two children Carol (Jim) Wheeler and Kevin (Michelle) Wheeler, her grandson Kurtis Wheeler and her many brothers and sisters… Martina Machan, Lloyd (Marion) Machan, Joan (Bob) Barwick, Florence Machan, Maxine (Bill) Robinson, Carman (Sandra) Machan, Gail (John) Currie, Darlene Becker, Dale (Ruth) Machan, Gordon (Jane) Machan, James Alton, Anne (Jack) Vincent, Pat (Ken) Mathers and Lawrence Machan.
