Our deepest condolences on the passing of this wonderful man. He truly has set a steadfast example for the three generations he has left behind. I will think of him fondly as I steal a line from him often when introducing “my former girlfriend” to others. Herbert was such a unique and kind man. He has left a legacy and many fond memories. My all of you cherish those memories and each other as time goes by.

Although I did not know Herbert, having only met him in passing, I see from the obituary and other condolences that he had a fulfilled and very productive life, well loved and respected.by the community that he had immigrated to....
I do however, remember his very impressive and cultivated mustache!
What a wonderful memory and legacy he has left for you and your family....Peace be with you...

We are truly sad to hear of Herbert's passing. We have known him for many years through the trakehner horse. Herbert was a fantastic ambassador for the trakehner in Canada. He was knowledgeable, supportive, and helpful to those he came in contact with. He had a fantastic sense of humor, sometimes a dry humor that took a couple of minutes to process before one would break into an inner smile, knowing that he had just had you in his joke!
We have lost a kind soul with a huge presence. I know he will be in the afterlife, already busy inspecting and branding all the trakehner horses who have passed before him! We thank God for his life!

Dear Boettcher Family.
Our most heartfelt sympathy for you.
We remember Herbert as dear friend. He was a great supporter of the Canadian Trakehner Horse Society since the late 1970s. As vice president of the CTHS he gave freely of his time, gave good advice to the members of the society in matters of breeding, acquiring and training Trakehner horses. All his life he showed great love and affection for the his own Trakehner horses, which he brought from Germany and the many Trakehners he bred and raised on his farm.
He will be greatly missed!
Alex and Ilse von Hausen and family.

To the entire Boettcher family. The wisdom we learn from our parents and grandparents is so valuable - they are truly our best teachers. Our last visit with Herb was so special (they all were)!! He was a knowledgeable man who was very entertaining in his own way. Herb was a man of many talents - from his paintings, to his care of his horses, to being a great steward of the land. To immigrate to a new country with your family is never an easy task. But Herb and Elisabeth are examples of how love overcomes these challenges. And we can see the result of this just by looking down Moncrieff Road as the next generations continue in their footsteps. Rest in peace Herb - you will be missed.

Dear Boettcher Family,
I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your dad. He and your mom were good friends of my parents, Andy and Hilde von Flotow, who passed in 2015 and 2018 respectively and who spoke with great respect of the farming operation. Sie fanden ihn einen guten Bauer.
I extend our families condolences.

Dear Jan and family:
I did not know your dad well but the few times I met him he impressed me with two things. One was his ability to think and look behind the curtain of the obvious and the other was his imp-like energy that made his eyes sparkle and dance. I wish to extend to you my condolences and will pray for the advancement of his dear soul.
Warmest love
