Glen “Doug” Machan

Douglas passed away peacefully, surrounded by family at his home on Wednesday, September 13th, 2017 in his 79th year. Loving husband to Florence for 58 years. Adoring Dad to Linda (Jim) McDonald, Vickie (Bill) Brophy and Paul (Janice) Machan. Missed by grandchildren Sarah(Barry) Young, Andrew McDonald, Brian, Brett & Rachel Brophy, Wyatt & Wade Machan. Great grandfather to Dallas and Karter Young. Brother to Shirley (George) Wheeler, Lloyd (Marion) Machan, Joan (Bob) Barwick, Maxine (Bill) Robinson, Carman (Sandra) Machan, Gail (John) Currie, Darlene Becker, Dale (Ruth) Machan, Gord (Jane) Machan, Ann (Jack) Vincent, Dianne Machan and Jim Alton, Pat (Ken) Mathers and Lawrence Machan. Brother- in-law to Jean Nethery, Martina Machan, Roy Dawson, Mae Ritchie & Murray (Sonja) Dawson. Predeceased by brothers Clarence, & Barry, brothers and sisters- in-law Wayne Becker, Alex Nethery, Mervin Ritchie, Harold Dawson, Matilda Dawson and Lois Dawson. Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews.

Doug’s #1 priority were his kids and grandkids whom he loved deeply. He revelled in refinishing antiques and was part owner in D&J Construction. Doug loved hunting with the Machan crew and enjoyed being a large part of his community.

Friends and Family will be received at The Brussels Legion on Saturday, September 16th, from 2-4 p.m for an informal, come and go celebration of Doug’s life.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Brussels United Church or the Brussels Cemetery would be appreciated.
