Obituary of George McCutcheon

George Elgin McCutcheon of Brussels passed away at Seaforth Community Hospital on Monday, February 28th, 2011. Born in Morris Township on September 24th 1922, George was in his 89th year.
George was the former owner and the founder of McCutcheon Motors, securing the General Motors dealership for the Brussels area. Active in the community, George was Reeve of Brussels from 1956 to 1962, the Warden of Huron County in 1962, a life member of both St. John's Lodge No. 284 A.F. & A.M. and the Brussels Lion's Club, a 20 year Board Member of the Maitland Valley Conservation Authority and a Past President of the Huron-Bruce Progressive Conservative Riding Association. George was the beloved husband of 47 years to the late Barbara Jean (Thynne) and will be sadly missed by his daughters Barbara Vonne Brister of Orillia and Pauline Anne Clarke and her husband Rick of Orillia; his grandchildren Jordan Brister, Alexandra Brister and Jason Reid, Michael and Nicole Clarke and Paula and Peter Gorgichuk; his brothers Jack and Esther McCutcheon, Bob and Jeanette McCutcheon and Mel and Lois McCutcheon; his sisters Berva Rice and Marg and Bernell Smith; and sister in law Betty McCutcheon.
Predeceased by brothers Casey, Fred, Lorne and Bill, and his sister Anne Bryans.
Friends will be received by the family one and a half hours prior to a Celebration of George's Life from Brussels United Church on Saturday, April 16th at 2:00, preceded by a masonic memorial service conducted under the auspices of St. John's Lodge No. 284 A.F. & A.M.
Burial at St. John's Anglican Church (McCutcheon) Cemetery, Morris Township.
As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or Brussels United Church.
