John Claude Douglas of RR#1 Gorrie, passed away suddenly at Listowel Memorial Hospital, on Monday, December 7th, 2009. Born in Howick Township on May 30th, 1924, Jack was in his 86th year. Beloved husband of the late Willa Etta (Nichol) Douglas. Dear father of Marlene Murray and her husband Dale of Fergus, Hugh Douglas and his wife Judith Anne of RR#1 Gorrie, and Louise Wood and her husband Barry of RR#1 Palmerston. Loving grandfather of Ian & Chrissy, Bryan & Julie, Christopher & Mandy, John, Paul, Emily Anne, Patrick and Carolyn and great grandfather of Cole and Jack. Also loved by his sisters-in-law Ella & Harold Stewart and Marion Campbell and his many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his sister Florence Gibson and her husband Robert, and brothers-in-law Neil Campbell and Ross & Effie Nichol and his nephew Ross Stewart. Friends will be received by the family from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM Friday at the Gorrie Visitation Centre of the Schimanski Family Funeral Home. The funeral service will be conducted from Trinity Anglican Church, Fordwich, on Saturday, December 12th, 2009 at 1:00 PM officiated by Reverend Canon Brenda Clark. Cremation to follow with interment at Fordwich Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Trinity Anglican Church or to the charity of one's choice.
