Catharine J. (van der Velden) Baan of RR#3 Walton passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 2nd, 2008, at Huronlea Home for the Aged. Born in the Netherlands on January 18th, 1914, Catharine was in her 95th year Beloved wife of the late Martin Baan. Dear father of John Baan and wife Mary of Walton, Nellie Booker and husband Howard of Spragge, Gerald Baan and wife Doreen of New Hamburg, and David Baan and wife Dianne of Walton. Special grandma to Steve & Teresa Baan, Don & Monique Baan, Heather & Richard Gerber, Mark & Becky Booker, Anna & Jim Raddon, Jonathon & Lauren Booker, Joel & Christine Booker, Wesley Booker, Christine & Richard Snyder, Jeremy Baan, Kim & Brent Battler, Jason & Erin Baan and Charmaine and Manny Berenguel and loved by her 24 great grandchildren. Predeceased by a daughter and a brother. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM Saturday at the Schimanski Family Funeral Home. The funeral service will be conducted Sunday, October 5th at 2:30 PM from Brussels Mennonite Fellowship. Interment to take place in Brussels Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, charitable donations may be made to the Gideon's or the Huronlea Auxiliary.
