To the Family of Brian Prescott, We were privileged to know Mark during his time in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. He often spoke fondly of his family, including his Father. We knew Mark's Father had been ill and were saddened to just now learn of his passing. We know the wrenching experience of losing a parent and our thoughts and prayers are with you. May you find comfort in treasured memories of Brian. Our parents are gone, but never forgotten, their memories are always with us, and their examples inspire us through both difficult and happy times. Sincere condolences, Rae and George Mitten

Dear Sheila,
I am visiting my mother here in Ottawa and just by chance saw Brian's obituary in today's newspaper. Seeing his name brought back a flood of memories.
Brian worked with my father, George Sylvester, at the Department of Fisheries & Oceans, before leaving to embark on a full-time farming career in the summer of 1974. You may remember that I worked for you and Brian on your farm in South Mountain and later on the dairy farm you purchased in Alfred, during that summer before I started university. It was my first real job and I have fond memories of my time on the farm with your family. I was a city kid with absolutely no farm experience and was very grateful for Brian's patience in teaching me about farm work. I'll always remember my first day on the job when he took me out in the farm truck to learn to drive a standard transmission. The following day he sent me off on my own in the truck to the feed store. It was an eventful trip, including a flat tire (I couldn't find the spare hidden under the truck bed), but I made it! The was summer filled with many firsts: feeding pigs, milking cows, making hay, cultivating corn and shoveling manure, but also included many a lively and engaging conversation with Brian as we did many of these chores together. It was an education of a different sort for this eighteen year old to hear perspectives on life from someone twice his age. The farm was also my introduction to hard work and the satisfaction of a job well done, something that has served me well in my professional life as a self-employed photographer. My farm experience with your family also instilled a life-long love of country living and I have lived most of my adult life in rural Prince Edward Island with my wife, Dianne, and our three (now adult) children. Thanks to Brian for starting me down this country road.
To you and your sons - Mark, Paul, Peter and David - please accept my heartfelt condolences at your loss of a husband and father.
Sincerely,
John Sylvester

Dear Sheila and family. I was so sorry to see the obituary in the Ottawa Citizen for Brian. Way back in the 70's when you bought my grandparents farm next door, we were blessed to have such great neighbours. I remember times when Brian came over to get me up to do the milking when my parents were on holidays. I remember that Brian sang at our wedding in 1974 and he was such a good singer. Liz and I pass on our sympathy and prayers and hope that your family will see each other through this trying time. God Bless you, Liz and Bruce Robinson
