Joe Smith of Listowel, and formerly of Grey Township, passed away peacefully at Listowel Memorial Hospital on Thursday, January 9th, 2014. Born in Grey Township on February 21st, 1927, Joe was in his 87th year.
Joe was the beloved husband of 60 years to the late Bev (Prine) Smith. Loving father of Janis Bray and Robert of New Hamburg, Cheryl and Lester Martin of Elmira, Brad Smith and Bobbie of Wroxeter, Heather and Michael Fahlenbock of New Hamburg and Kevin Smith of Guelph. Remembered by his grandchildren Melissa, Carla and Craig McTaggart, Tyler and Kyle Fahlenbock, Jill, Janine, Conner and Morgan Smith and Orbyn Smith and his great grandchildren Taran, Nishaan, Bryson and Aubrey. Dear brother to Harvey and Marion Smith, Ross and Shirley Smith, Larry and Marilyn Smith, Fred and Teuni Smith, Carman and Doreen Smith, Glenna Seddon, Roger and Donna Smith and Fran Gibbons. Predeceased by his parents Allen and Mabel Smith, his son in law Larry Bray, grandchildren Shelley and Kent, brother Lloyd, and sisters Doreen Willoughby and Grace Smith.
Joe's Life will be celebrated on Monday, January 13th at 2:00 PM from the Schimaski Family Funeral Home, Brussels, officiated by Reverend Sarah Thompson of Knox Presbyterian Church in Cranbrook.
Cremation to follow with interment of remains in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Ethel come spring.
As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations to Knox Presbyterian Church, Cranbrook or the charity of one's choice would be appreciated by the family.
